First Time in Gozo

It's not really easy to find sandy beachs in the main island of Malta (just two or three big ones). However in Gozo, the second biggest place of the country, there are more long sand beaches. This part of the country is quieter, there are less people. In fact you have to take the boat for reaching this island so everyone is not motivated to do that. In addition the best place to take the boat, Cirkewwa, is in the North part of Gozo, opposite to the most populated cities (including L-lmsida). The distance between Cirkewwa and L-lmsida is not considerable (≈20km). So, at the beginning, I thought that the bus travel would be short. But I was wrong, the bus network is a disaster. You have to plan at least one hour to reach the North part of Malta. And the network in Gozo is even worse. So, if you want to enjoy your day, it is advisable to rent a car. But, with Quentin, we had an opportunity. Abigail, an engineer of Pro Energy who is working with Quentin, offered to us the possibility to go to Gozo with her, one of her friend and Claire, an other french intern of this company. It was a really good opportunity for me to meet new people and to discover a new place. In addition Abigail has a car so it was easier to move in Gozo.

We have planed this little trip one Saturday. So we woke up at 8am and we left our flat about 9am. After some problems with the bus we arrived at the meeting point. Next step : to reach Cirkewwa for taking the boat. We arrived to Cirkewwa about 11am and we had to wait the boarding. They're using big boats to do the crossing (boats can accommodate many vehicles). The crossing was rather short (≈20min). During this one we have seen Comino, the little beautiful island between Gozo and Malta. We arrived at noon. After the landing we went to eat a pizza close to a beautiful church.

Then we reached a really sandy beach on the North coast. I get acquainted with other people. We talked about many things in Malta, in particular the marriage. Malta is a Christian country, the religion has an important place in the culture so the marriage is really significant for the Maltese people. This day was relaxing after a work week.

About 5pm we reached a little city to take a mojito close to the sea. The landscapes are really different here, there are many high cliffs and more vegetation.

At 7pm we decided to reach the ferry for returning in Malta. During the crossing we had a really beautiful view on the sunset. We arrived at home about 9pm. It was a perfect day. Gozo is a good place to relax.

I'm Clément Coutellier, a French student in Malta for an internship (from the 10th April to the 11th August). In France I'm studying the business at ISIALM. Here I'm working for AQS Med. Ltd, a company specialized in the renewable energy area.
